A Tribute to the Fallen

Solemnity. A casket stood over a gaping maw, covered by an American flag. The very same flag that hung on a nearby pole, hanging in the still air. Three servicemen stood stark still. Their rifles raised. A deafening crack rang out. Then another. Then another. The flag fluttered and fell still, silently mourning.
